Well winter really has made its presence known this year. The rainy-sleety-frosty weather is just making it that much harder to get out of bed in the mornings.
And as much as we love snuggling down under the doona for another ten minutes of snoozing, lying in bed all day can be pretty unproductive.
Or is it?
What if you could stay in bed and still get a bunch of stuff done? We've come up with five things you can do without even leaving the comfort of your bed. It's what productivity dreams are made of.
So you're dreaming of spending next winter in southern Spain. But you've forgotten everything you learned in 7th Grade Spanish.
Travelling is so much more fun when you can speak the local language. And you don't even have to leave your bedroom to start learning the language of passion and tapas.
There are heaps of language courses online – from self-paced classes, to one-on-one Skype-based tutorials with native speakers. And plenty of them are free, or really cheap. All you need is a computer and a bit of time in bed, and you'll be ordering sangria in Seville before you know it.
Having a camera in your smartphone has basically changed the way we take photos. Now, if you see something amazing/funny/cute, it's so easy to just whip out your phone and take a picture.
And sure, some of those photos end up on Instagram or Facebook. But the majority sit there until they're accidently wiped out when we upgrade our phones.
Instead of letting those awesome photos disappear, we suggest spending a cozy morning in bed sorting them out. Get all those images off your phone and onto your computer, then go through them and decide which ones are worth keeping and what can be ditched (digital clutter is a thing too, you know). Then store the photos you want to keep in the cloud using something like Flickr or Dropbox.
But don't stop there. Take the best images and actually get them printed out. Holding a photo in your hand is so much more exciting than looking at it online. And you don't even need to leave the house to get your photos printed. Just upload them to a photo service and they'll be delivered right to you. So easy!
Did you know crochet is the new hipster craft? No seriously, it is. Learn a new skill and make yourself something cozy to wear by crocheting a pair of socks.
Crochet is really easy to pick up – just head to YouTube and get hooking. Oh, and once you've mastered the basics, you can make some really amazing crochet art. Or beanies in the shape of food. Your choice!
Want to be famous but don't have any acting or singing talent? Well, that didn't stop the Kardashians, but we digress.
YouTube has given rise to a new generation of celebrity. Think Jenna Marbles, PewDiePie and Michelle Phan. Successful as they all are now, each one started out making videos in their bedrooms.
Think you've got what it takes? All you need is a camera and something to talk about and you're set.
So the saying goes that “everyone has a good book in them” (although for some people that's probably where it should stay).
If you've got a story you're just dying to tell then your bed is a great place to write in. In fact, quite a few artists famously worked from bed, including Breakfast at Tiffany's author Truman Capote, who wrote flat on his back with a coffee and cigarette close by.
To really get your creative juices flowing, ditch the laptop and write the first draft by hand. And if no one sees it, it doesn't matter. Creativity is its own reward.
Of course, if it's too cold to get out of bed and you need something to do then you could get in touch with us. We love hearing about what you get up to in bed (well, mostly) and what you think of the Sleeping Duck mattress.
